POLICE across Dorset are reaching out to victims of rape - and warning perpetrators that sex is only acceptable if both people consent. Dorset Police have said if there is no consent given freely, and that person is impaired due to drink or drugs - it is also not consent. In response to this warning, information is being provided to the public on what to do in case of emergency or how to seek help if a victim of rape. A spokesman from the Dorset Police said: Sex without consent is rape. No ifs, no buts, no excuses. There s no consent if agreement has been forced or coerced and not given freely.

Man found guilty of raping woman as she slept

A man has been found guilty of raping a woman as she slept. Marti Nicholas Reynolds, 29 and of Baardwyk Avenue, Canvey Island, was convicted on Wednesday, December 9, of rape following a trial at Salisbury Crown Court. He was found not guilty of a second rape offence. He will return to the same court on January 14 to be sentenced. The offence occurred in October 2017 when Reynolds lived in Bournemouth and came to light on October 27 that year when a woman contacted Dorset Police to say Reynolds had admitted to having sexual intercourse with a woman as she slept. He was arrested the same day.
