After nearly a year of being closed to the public, the Kidzeum of Health and Science is preparing to lose its leader.
Leah Wilson who has been the executive director of the children’s museum since it opened downtown in July 2018 recently informed the museum s board that she will be stepping down.
Having accepted a remote position with Buena Vista University in her home state of Iowa, she will continue to work with the museum in a part-time capacity through the end of March.
“We all wish Leah the best and are deeply appreciative of all that she has done to lead Kidzeum through challenging times,” said Karen Witter, Kidzeum board president. “Leah has worked tirelessly to make Kidzeum a valuable asset for the Springfield community. She has helped put Kidzeum on a pathway towards success during extraordinary circumstances. We will miss her leadership and depth of knowledge but are confident that great things are ahead for Kidzeum.”
