SYLVESTER, Ga. (WALB) - The City of Sylvester is defying the odds, and seeing an economic boom of sorts during the pandemic.
The Chamber of Commerce said the growth is due to private investment in the community, and that people wanted to support new businesses and see existing ones come back after the pandemic. From gas station to barbeque, The Station opens soon (Source: WALB)
Selena Sumner is the co-owner of The Station. The soon-to-be BBQ restaurant, across from the Worth County courthouse, has a long history in Sylvester.

SYLVESTER, Ga. (WALB) - Everyone in Sylvester could have access to high-speed internet by the end of this year, a real boon for the rural community.
City Manager Autron Hayes said fiber-optic high-speed internet has been in Sylvester for years. But, it wasn’t widely available to the public. Soon, residents and businesses will have access.
“We already provide it to the schools and a few businesses. We’re just going to make it available to homes and commercial businesses,” said Hayes.
