Gautam and Allivand Honored as Impact Athlete and Performing Arts Student of the Month for April 2021

Posted by jimreagan on Congratulations to Neel Gautam and Cameron Allivand of Durant High School who have been selected as the April 2021 Shamrock Bank Impact Athlete and Performing Arts Student of the month. Gautam, a senior,  has been a stalwart of the Lion tennis team. A four year varsity player, Neel has fashioned a 20-7 record this season and has never finished below third place in any of the tournaments. “Neel is one of the hardest working players I have ever coached,” DHS tennis coach Jonathan Rodriguez said. ” He is also an amazing teammate. He is willing to help out his team and cheer them on all the time.”

CCHS junior chosen for Governor s School of the Arts, two other local students as alternates | WHOP 1230 AM

Hopkinsville, KY, USA / WHOP 1230 AM | News Radio Apr 22, 2021 1:43 PM Christian County High School junior Joseph Anderson has been selected to be a member of the 2021 Governor’s School for the Arts. According to a news release from CCPS Spokesperson John Rittenhouse, Anderson was chosen for the Instrumental Music discipline, specifically for percussion.  Also, fellow CCHS junior Levi Mitchell and Hopkinsville High School junior Nicholas Laramee were selected as Alternates in the Instrumental Music discipline. GSA Scholar’s learn from distinguished teachers, create with fellow gifted students, and experience college residential life at the University of Kentucky from June 27 through July 17.

The Links, Inc Petersburg Chapter presents virtual arts showcase

The 2021 theme is THE BLACK FAMILY: REPRESENTATION, IDENTITY, AND DIVERSITY. The Progress-Index PETERSBURG - The Links, Incorporated [Petersburg Chapter] nonprofit organization with accomplished and dedicated women active in their community will be presenting a virtual arts showcase. The 2021 theme is THE BLACK FAMILY: REPRESENTATION, IDENTITY, AND DIVERSITY. The showcase will take place virtually on Sunday, May 16.  All Students enrolled in grades ninth through twelfth in the Greater Petersburg area may participate.  The showcase features students from high schools within the Chapter’s service area: Appomattox Regional Governors School, Lloyd C. Bird High School, Dinwiddie Senior High School, Hopewell High School, Matoaca High School, Meadowbrook High School, Petersburg High School, Prince George High School, Thomas Dale High School, Surry High School, and Sussex Central High School.
