Shasta County will move into the less-restrictive COVID-19 red tier as of midnight, Public Health Director Robin Schurig told the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday.
With the county moving to red under California s color-coded business reopening system, restaurants will be allowed to open their dining rooms on a limited-seating basis. This is not the time to let our guard down. We don t want to end up right back in the purple and we don t want to see a surge in cases followed by hospitalizations and deaths, Schurig said.

For many, a donut is both holy and holey.
But for Michelle and Chris Newton, the financial future of their downtown Klamath Falls bakery depended on a judge seeing a difference between the two.
The family-owned operation, known until last week as the Holey Donut, will no longer go by that moniker after its owners were sued by The Holy Donut, a Maine bakery located 3,100 miles away.
