The 2020 Corruption Perception Index (CPI) released globally by Transparency International (TI) Thursday in Abuja, showed that Nigeria yet again, records a decline in the CPI.
Published exclusively in Nigeria by the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC), the national chapter of TI, the index reveals that Nigeria scored 25 out of 100 points, failing back by one point compared to last year.
In the comparison for this year, Nigeria ranks 149 out of 183 countries, three places down compared to 2019 results.
The Executive Director, CISLAC, Auwal Ibrahim Musa (Rafsajani), while announcing the results, noted that in the past four years, Nigeria’s score has declined on average by 0.8 annually.

Armenia has further improved its position in an annual survey of corruption perceptions around the world conducted by Transparency International.
It ranked, together with Jordan and Slovakia, 60th out of 180 countries and territories evaluated in the Berlin-based watchdog’s 2020 Corruption Perception Index (CPI) released on Thursday.
Armenia and two other countries shared 77th place in the previous CPI released a year ago. Transparency International assigned the South Caucasus state a CPI “score” of 42 out of 100 at the time. The watchdog raised the score to 49 in the latest survey.
“It is the second largest [CPI score] increase in the world after Maldives,” it said in an explanatory note.

Transparency International, the international anti-corruption agency, today released its 2020 corruption rankings of 180 countries around the world. The analysis covers corruption in the public sector and is built on the compiled opinions of experts and key economic players.
The report is called the Corruption Perception Index (CPI) and ranks Iceland the 17th least corrupt country. Iceland’s ranking has dropped over recent years and it is considered the most corrupt of the five Nordic nations.
To be considered free of corruption, a country needs to score 100, which no country managed.
