SBCA chief’s failure to show up for hearing angers court

Hearing a plea seeking the implementation of fire safety laws, a two-member bench of Sindh High Court, headed by Justice Mazhar and comprising Justice Amjad Ali Sahito, gave the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) director general (DG) a last warning to appear before the court.
Irked at the DG’s absence, Justice Mazhar said, “The court had summoned the SBCA DG, not the SBCA technical director.”
At this, the counsel for the SBCA apologised to the court, assuring it that the DG would attend the next hearing.

The Sindh High Court has told the Karachi Development Authority to pay pending salaries to its employees.
Grade 17 officers working for the authority had approached the court claiming that they haven t been paid in months.
The KDA should release their salaries from its accounts, the court said, adding that the Sindh government should help them too.

The Sindh High Court has summoned replies from the Sindh Building Control Authority and Karachi Development Authority in an encroachment case.
The builder of the Aero Iconic Tower has been given till February 17 to submit a reply in the case.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, while reviewing the arrangements of the upcoming Multinational Maritime Exercise AMAN-21 being hosted by the Pakistan Navy, directed all the civic bodies to give a festive-kind of a look to the city.
âIt is an honour to host AMAN-21 exercise to be participated by 46 countries, therefore all the arrangements, including repair, maintenance, paint works and installation of welcome neon signs should reflect best hospitality,â he said while presiding over a meeting at the CM House on Friday.
The Pakistan Navy is set to host the multinational exercise from February 11 to 16, 2021, in which over 46 countries would participate. âThe main objective of the exercise is to enhance the positive image of Pakistan on the global level,â said the CM. The theme of the event is `Together For Peaceâ.
The Sindh High Court on Tuesday directed the Karachi Development Authority’s counsel to submit a time frame mentioning the specific dates for the payment of the remaining outstanding dues to.
