Suhayra Aden repatriation: Gerry Brownlee suggests following Australian laws on revoking citizenships

He said introducing a law like Australia s was not something the government considered. [Australia] passed their law in 2016. It s not something that the [New Zealand] government then thought that they should also do and this government doesn t think it should do either. And I think it potentially sets up a very ugly, brutal race between countries to strip citizenship of people they just don t want. That is not in keeping, I think, with our international obligations and our obligations as a country that wants to be a good nation-state citizen. Middle East scholar and economist Karam Shaar was also against bringing in laws to revoke citizenships, saying international governments had a responsibility in the current situation in Syria.

He said precipitation in Hasakah fell by more than 50% and that temperatures rose, increasing the rate of evaporation.

Ghanim Bin Shaheen Al Ghanim, Qatar Armed Forces chief, during his visit to Qatar, April 14, 2019. TEL AVIV: There are signs that China may be moving to take advantage of the US withdrawal from Syria as part of a larger effort to expand its footprint in the Gulf and Middle East, Israeli sources fret. Beijing for some time has had a toe in Syria politically aligning with Russia in efforts at the UN to shield Bashar al-Assad’s regime and counter Western influence; voicing willingness to take part in the country’s post-civil war reconstruction; and providing small amounts of humanitarian aid.
