“It was way more successful than I could have ever imagined it to be.” Since it was a Facebook auction with all donated items, the organizers didn’t have any expenses, so all the money raised will be directed towards the Wigley family. “He has a long road ahead, and I think that every little bit helps, and it’s grown … to where I don’t think he’ll have to worry financially for a little while. He’ll just have to focus on healing and getting better.” Petterson said she thought they would be lucky to get 100 items. The variety of items helped make for a successful auction. There was something for everyone, she said, with food, agricultural items, housewares, blankets, outdoor merchandise and more.

On Feb. 19. Mason was informed he had diffuse B-Cell lymphoma. Within a few short weeks, Mason and his family have made four trips to Regina and one trip to Saskatoon, when he had a number of different tests, including a pet scan and bone marrow tap. His first round of chemotherapy was March 10. Mason and his family lived in Carnduff for a few years, where his dad worked for local trucking companies, and Christie worked in the legion lounge. He and his brother attended the Carnduff Education Complex. This past year Dean and Christie started their new venture. With the crash of the oil patch, they ventured into the food truck industry, creating Elephant Ear Emporium, right the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. It s been a tough year for this family, so a few of their friends have decided to put together an online auction to try to help offset some of the expenses this family will see in their future.
