Jorhat- On Wednesday, a 20-year-old woman who had tested positive for Covid-19 gave birth to a baby girl while being transported to Jorhat Medical College and Hospital.
The woman had gone to her parent s house in Cintamonigarh village, Bhogamukh, about 23 kilometres from the Jorhat town, when she experienced labour pains, a source informed. When taken to Bhogamukh PHC and screened for COVID-19 there, she was found to be infected with the deadly virus. Read more

The Assam Health minister chaired series of high-level meetings today to ensure that adequate hospital beds are made available for the needy COVID-19 patients as Assam currently suffers from a steep surge in the cases of the novel coronavirus.
Assam logs record 26 COVID deaths in one day, 3,197 new cases; night curfew extended till May 7
The fatality rate in the state stands at 0.52 per cent, and the positivity rate at 4.53 per cent.

GUWAHATI: Assam recorded 26 COVID-19 deaths on Friday, the highest in a single day so far, taking the toll to 1,281, while 3,197 new cases pushed the tally to 2,53,123, a bulletin issued by the state National Health Mission (NHM) here said.
Of the 26 deaths, eight were reported from Kamrup Metro, four from Kamrup Rural, two each from Dibrugarh, Sivasagar, Nagaon and Hojai, and one each from Cachar, Darrang, Golaghat, Nalbari and Udalguri, the bulletin said.
Assam reports 26 COVID-19 deaths, 3,079 new cases
The 3,079 new COVID-19 cases include 1,029 from Kamrup Metro, 238 from Dibrugarh, 234 from Kamrup Rural and 156 from Nagaon.

GUWAHATI: Assam reported single-day highest of 26 COVID-19 deaths on Thursday taking the death toll to 1,281 while 3,079 new cases pushed the tally to 2,49,926, according to the bulletin issued by the state National Health Mission (NHM).
The 26 deaths reported during the day include 15 from Kamrup Metro, also the single day highest in the district, three from Jorhat, two from Cachar and one each from Bongaigaon, Chirang, Darrang, Dhemaji, Kokrajhar and Tinsukia, it said.
