ISLAMABAD:
Despite playing an important role in the restoration of judges in March 2009, the image of the legal community has been badly affected due to a high number strikes and incidents where large groups have displayed an alarming level of rowdy and violent behaviour. Even the justice system seems to have been taken hostage by them.
In cases where one lawyer has displayed violent behaviour, several others have often banded with him. In cases where a lawyer has been arrested for said violent behaviour, hundreds of others have tried to foil arrest attempts, protested outside courts and taken to streets in strike attempts. The scenes often resemble more closely to those of thug-like street gangs rather than upstanding citizens in charge of upholding and protecting the law.

Peshawar

MANSEHRA: Political parties, Ulema, traders and transporters have demanded the federal government to end the toll tax collection on Karakoram Highway near here.
“The federal government has been receiving the toll tax at three places in the distance of hardly six kilometres and employees and students of Abbottabad and Mansehra are paying this unjustified tax several times a day,” Malik Waheed, the divisional president of Pakistan People’s Party, told a grand jirga attended by representatives of the political parties, traders, transporters and others here on Monday.
The jirga also constituted an action committee which would first meet the local lawmakers, senators and federal minister for communications, seeking their support in removing the toll tax collection plaza at Khatain-da-Galla and then give a call for protests and wheel-jam strikes.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, December 16, 2020 - TRIUMF, Canada s particle accelerator centre, today announced it has entered into a collaboration agreement with Fusion Pharmaceuticals Inc. (Nasdaq: FUSN), a clinical-stage oncology company focused on developing next-generation radiopharmaceuticals as precision medicines. Under the agreement, Fusion will provide a financial investment enabling TRIUMF to upgrade its actinium-225 production infrastructure, and in return will receive preferred access to actinium-225, a rare medical isotope that shows great promise in new, cutting-edge cancer therapies.
An alpha-emitting isotope with a short half-life, actinium-225 can be combined with a molecular agent that specifically targets cancer cells, seeking out and destroying the cancer while leaving the surrounding tissue unharmed. The new collaboration will enable TRIUMF to significantly increase its production and delivery of actinium-225.
