Despite differences, Opposition manages to pass resolution in Senate

The Opposition was able to pass a resolution in the Senate relating to the price of coronavirus vaccines on Monday, despite disagreements within the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM).
The resolution against the selling of coronavirus vaccines at expensive rates was moved by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam s (JUI-F) Senator Kamran Murtaza.
The Senate approved the resolution submitted by the Opposition, with 43 in favour and 31 voting against it.
In the resolution, the Opposition candidate demanded the government provide coronavirus vaccines for free or at a cheaper rate for the public.
Angered at the development, the Leader of the House Shehzad Waseem said the resolution was a charge-sheet against the government.

A resolution urging the private sector to either offer Covid-19 vaccine free of charge or on reduced price was passed in the Senate on Monday with a majority vote.
Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) Senator Kamran Murtaza presented the resolution in the house that stated that citizens of all countries were either being vaccinated for free or at a fixed rate of Rs1,500. On the other hand, the Senator observed, the price of coronavirus vaccine has been fixed at Rs8,400 in Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), in its crucial heads of the component parties meeting tomorrow (Tuesday), would take up the situation that has arisen due to allegedly threatening and abusive messages passed on to PML-N central leader Maryam Nawaz Sharif recently by some quarters.
The NAB’s move to seek cancelation of her bail on a plea would also figure in discussions. The joint proposal of PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif and PDM President Maulana Fazlur Rehman on parting ways with the assemblies to put pressure on the government to quit would also be discussed. Some other smaller parties of the PDM are also supporting the idea.
