Gender Protection Unit receives 131 complaints

Islamabad : Inspector-General Police Islamabad Qazi Jamil ur Rehman on Tuesday reviewed the performance of the Islamabad Police Gender Protection Unit.
He chaired a round-table meeting here in which one month s performance of the Unit was discussed. The meeting appreciated the role and performance of the Unit, saying it has really put a check on incidents as violence against women and children. The meeting was also attended by DIG (Headquarters) Kamran Aadil, AIG (Establishment) Dr. Naveed Atif, SSP (Operations) Dr. Syed Mustafa Tanweer, senior officers, members from ICCI, civil society, and officials posted on the desk of the Gender Protection Unit.
Police summer camp aiming at child protection kicks off

Islamabad: A month-long police summer camp kicked off at police lines headquarters on Monday, aimed at reaching out to children, aged 4-14, of the federal capital through community policing.
It was stated by Islamabad police chief Qazi Jameel-ur-Rehman while addressing at inauguration ceremony of the camp. The IGP said that the Islamabad Police believes in continuity of efforts to promote friendly police ecology. In this regard, he pointed out that it had started a summer school back in 2002 to boost the public-friendly image of the police. The school, he said, has been held every year since for the past 19 years.
Police bicycle patrol unit being equipped with technology

Islamabad: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Qazi Jameel-ur-Rehman on Thursday said the bicycle patrol unit was being equipped with modern technology to effectively respond anti-social activities in the federal capital.
The personnel of the unit were getting training on first aid, use of weapons as well as for the guidance of tourists, said IGP.
He made these remarks during a meeting with unit members here. DIG headquarters Kamran Aadil, SSP headquarters Omer Khan and ASP Kohsar, Amina Baig were also present on the occasion. The IGP appreciated the performance of the unit and announced commendation certificates for the staff.

IGP returns recovered items to owners

Islamabad:The Islamabad police recovered looted items worth Rs169.7 million from the criminal elements, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Qazi Jamil-ur-Rehman said in a press conference.
He handed over the looted items included vehicles, gold ornaments, bikes, cash and other valuables to the owners during a ceremony held in CPO before the press conference. DIG (Operations) Afzaal Ahmed Kausar, DIG HQ Kamran Aadil, SSP (Investigation) Atta ur Rehman, SSP HQ Naveed Atif, SSP (Opertions) Dr. Syed Mustafa Tanweer, Zonal SPs and media personnel attended the ceremony.
The IGP appreciated the efforts of DIG (Operations) and his team in recovering the looted items and handed over valuables worth Rs169.7 million to their owners. He said that huge recovery in a very short period by the team of DIG (Operations) is really appreciable and hoped that such efforts would help curb crime and activities of anti-social eleme
