For implementing the Metro Line 2A (Dahisar to D N Nagar) and Line 7 (Dahisar East to Andheri East) so far the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority(MMRDA) has incurred expenses of total Rs 5935 crore. On Line 2A Rs 3,525 crore spent and on Line 7 Rs 2410 crore spent. The MMRDA has ensured to complete the both the metro lines work within the government sanctioned project cost despite delays due to Covid-19.
On Monday MMRDA started the trial run on 20kms stretch on Metro 2A and 7. It will cover 18 stations on both the lines. MMRDA Commissioner R A Rajeev, said, The testing of line on the said stretch will continue for next four months. Meanwhile, it will also receive 2 rakes each month and with availability of total 10 rakes the commercial operations of Phase 1 between Dhanukarwadi (formerly known as Kamraj Nagar) and Aarey will commence from October 2020. Mumbai: 20 km trial run to begin anytime soon on Metro 2A and 7
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has achieved a significant milestone in the overhead cable work of metro line 2A (Dahisar to DN Nagar) and 7 (Dahisar East to Andheri East) work. On Monday, it informed that the chief electrical inspector of the government of India (CEIG) did inspection via video call of Over Head Equipment (OHE) line of Metro line 2A successfully for the section from Dahisar to Kamraj Nagar.
Due to the prevailing pandemic situation and travel restrictions, the MMRDA shared updates to the inspection officer using digital platform so the proposed plan of metro trial run could be achieved. Now the charging OHE on this metro line 2A for the said stretch will be done on Tuesday. Thereafter, the proposed 20km trial run (Aarey to Kamraj Nagar) will begin.

Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray unveiled the first indigenously built metro coach to be used for the Mumbai Metro Line 2A (Dahisar East to DN Nagar) and Line 7 (Andheri East to Dahisar East) on Friday evening.
Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) has delivered the first Made-in-India metro rake from its Bengaluru facility. With this, the trial runs will begin from March and will continue for a month. From May, the commercial operations of the Metro line will commence, informed RA Rajeev, Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA.
