Pegasus row: SC to hear next week plea of journalists N Ram, Sashi Kumar seeking inquiry headed by top court judge
NEW DELHI, July 30: The Supreme Court on Friday agreed to hear next week the plea of senior journalists N Ram and Sashi Kumar seeking an inquiry headed by a sitting or retired judge of the apex court to investigate into the reports of the government using Israeli software Pegasus to spy on politicians, activists, and journalists.
A Bench headed by Chief Justice of India NV Ramana said the court will hear the plea next week after senior advocate Kapil Sibal for the petitioners mentioned the matter for urgent hearing.

New Delhi [India], July 25 (ANI): Communist Marxist Party of India (Marxist) leader and Rajya Sabha MP John Brittas said snooping of activists, politicians, journalists and Constitutional functionaries by the Israeli spyware Pegasus is a violation of fundamental rights while alleging that government has not cared to investigate the issue.
Brittas has approached the Supreme Court seeking a court-monitored probe by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) into reports of the government using Israeli software Pegasus to spy on politicians, activists, and journalists.
