Cumming City Center Buy-A-Brick Program extended through May 31 City of Cumming officials have decided to offer the public another chance to purchase personalized, engraved bricks that will be installed at the Cumming City Center. Residents can buy bricks through May 31.  Jennifer Archer, City Center property manager, said she hopes additional families, businesses, civic clubs, school organizations, churches and more will take advantage of this final opportunity to leave a permanent marker at the Cumming City Center.  “There are a limited number of bricks available, and we truly want all of those bricks to be personalized by members of our community,” she said. “Of the bricks that have sold so far, we have seen a lot of family bricks and bricks in remembrance of individuals. Pedestrian killed in Cumming

A pedestrian was killed when he was hit by a car in Cumming on Tuesday evening. According to a press release from the Cumming Police Department, a pedestrian, identified as 63-year- old Raul Gomez, stepped in front of an oncoming vehicle. The Honda CRV was traveling south in the outside lane on Castleberry Road when the pedestrian stepped off the sidewalk into the path of the car. The car was unable to stop, striking Gomez and causing the man to land in the roadway, sliding some distance. He was in the center turn lane when authorities arrived. He died from his injuries.

A portion of Canton Highway is closed after a pedestrian fatality on the roadway on Friday night. Forsyth County Coroner Paul Holbrook was able to confirm the fatality and said the matter is being jointly investigated by his office, the Forsyth County Sheriff s Office and the Cumming Police Department. As of about 8:45 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 5, the highway is closed between Almon C. Hill Drive and North Corners Parkway and expected to remain closed for two to three hours, according to a Facebook post from Cumming Police. 

3 Charged With Burglary, Theft After Car Stolen From Dealership

(Shutterstock) CANTON, GA Three people have been arrested for their part in the theft of a vehicle from the Shottenkirk dealership in Canton last week. The suspects were taken into custody on Jan. 31 after a car chase by the Cumming Police Department with the assistance of the Forsyth County Sheriff s Office. At the time of the arrests, the suspects were found to be driving a different vehicle that was stolen. Additional information from an investigation found that the driver and passengers were potentially involved in the recent vehicle theft in Canton. The three people that fled from the Cumming Police were Dexter Pearce, 32, Christopher Davidson, 32, and Ruby Stevenson, 23. All from Alabama.
