Human remains found in Gumboro where missing man was last seen

Delaware News Journal Suspected human remains found in Gumboro last week were located in the same area a missing man was last seen 10 years earlier. Police confirmed the discovery Jan. 22 after maintaining a weeklong presence on R Farm Lane. The remains have been turned over to the Division of Forensic Science for identification and to determine manner of death. Police have yet to announce any link in the cases. John Douglas Wisniewski Sr., then 45, was last seen at his home on R Farm Lane at about 1 a.m. Jan. 24, 2011, according to a Delaware State Police press release at the time. He is still listed as missing in the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System.

Police had been on the R Farm Lane property for more than a week. On Jan. 21, a Delaware Department of Transportation truck towed an industrial light down the road, out of sight, and then left without it. Three trucks marked “forensics” showed up and parked north of R Farms Lane on Westwoods Road.

Gumboro residents want answers to weeklong police activity dirt road

Salisbury Daily Times Gumboro residents are abuzz about police presence on a dirt road off Westwoods Road that began Jan. 14.  Neighbors said police were most recently on R Farm Lane on Jan. 21. Later Thursday, a Delaware Department of Transportation truck towed an industrial light down the road, out of sight, and then left without it. Three trucks marked “forensics” showed up and parked north of R Farms Lane on Westwoods Road. From Jan. 16 through Wednesday, state police responded to Delmarva Now questions saying there was an active and ongoing investigation, furthering the frustration of neighbors who were told there is no threat to public safety.
