Amazon plans to launch a delivery station in Fayetteville next year, creating hundreds of jobs and enhancing the company’s ability to serve Cumberland County and the surrounding area, local and company officials said Thursday.
The facility, which will be located at 1005 Dunn Road, is expected to enhance Amazon’s last-mile delivery capabilities and speed up deliveries for customers in the region, according to a statement released by the Fayetteville Cumberland County Economic Development Corporation. The company plans to transport packages to delivery stations from Amazon fulfillment and sortation centers, and then load them into vehicles for delivery to customers, it said.

The Cumberland County Board of Commissioners approved placing the 2021-2022 fiscal budget on public view. The total revenue in the fiscal budget is $57,865,075, which predominantly consists of Human Services funding, a press release said.
The fiscal budget is primarily funded by grants from state and federal sources which cover 79% of the budget, or $45,896,488. County subsidy and additional funding sources cover the remaining 21% of the budget, according to the release.
In addition to the fiscal budget which is up for approval; there is the calendar budget which includes the general fund, nursing home, public safety, and several other funds. The calendar budget is normally approved in early December.

Fayetteville NAACP chapter president Jimmy Buxton said he watched the whole trial and thought the prosecutors did an excellent job. I just couldn t see how anybody could get away with what (Chauvin) did without being convicted, he said. I m elated right now to see justice prevail, finally.
