The engineering consultants of a residential subdivision are blaming the Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) for the flooding at Nasese in Suva recently.
The developers say that the reclamation and construction works at the Turner Bridge (Nasese Bridge) constricts the mouth of Laveti Creek, causing waters to build up further inland and flood residential properties along the creek.
Emailed communication between the engineering consultants, FRA and the Suva City Council (SCC) indicate that discussion on the issue of flooding in the Nasese area was initiated in November 2020.

DETERIORATING road conditions have forced bus passengers in Cakaudrove to pull buses stuck in boggy areas using ropes.
Parmod Chand, the director of a bus company, said the Fiji Roads Authority needed to fix the Nayarabale/Nagalevu/Vanuavou/Cocoa crossing which had affected bus services.
Mr Chand said the road used to be in good condition despite the wet weather.
“However, the operations of overloaded logging trucks have damaged this road due to heavy loads,” he claimed.
