China s domestically-developed deep-sea manned submersible Fendouzhe (Striver) was delivered Tuesday to the Institute of Deep-sea Science and Engineering affiliated to the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
China Ship Scientific Research Center, the developer of the manned submersible, signed the delivery memorandum with the institute in the port city of Sanya, south China s Hainan Province.
Fendouzhe is expected to play a significant role in China s deep-sea scientific research, marine resources survey and emergency sea rescue missions.
The institute has led the formation of a scientific instruction committee for the use of Fendouzhe and manned submersible Shenhai Yongshi (Deep Sea Warrior), capable of reaching depths of 10,000 meters and 4,500 meters, respectively.

BEIJING A deep sea sci-tech lab has been established to boost the development of an innovative system of key technologies in related fields, according to the China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC).
Located in the city of Wuxi, East China s Jiangsu province, the sci-tech lab named Taihu has been built by the CSSC-affiliated China Ship Scientific Research Center, the CSSC said.
The research center aims to build the deep sea sci-tech lab into an advanced laboratory with global influence.
By 2025, the lab plans to gather around 4,000 talents to work on such tasks as deep-sea diving, deep-sea communication and navigation, and deep ocean survey.
