Punch Newspapers Sections Peter Dada, Akure The agrarian community of Akungba Akoko in the Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State was thrown into mourning on Saturday, January 23, 2021, after a road accident which occurred opposite the Adekunle Ajasin University killing many people, including some students of the institution. The state sector command of the Federal Road Safety Corps and the state police said nine people lost their lives while several others were injured in the accident that involved a truck labelled Dangote Cement coming from Obajana in Kogi State and descending the popular Okerigbo hilly road to Owo. However, it was gathered that the death toll later increased.

Welcome To Ladun Liadi s Blog Saturday, December 12, 2020 Many dead as trucks collide, burst into flames in Ondo Tragedy struck on Friday evening in Ondo State following an accident which claimed about five lives along Ikare-Akoko/Owo highway. The accident occurred in Akungba-Akoko, headquarters of Akoko South West Local Government Area of the state. It was gathered that the accident which involved three trucks, happened at the Okerigbo Hill near the main gate of the Adekunle Ajasin University situated in the community. One of the trucks, which was said to be loaded with bags of cement, suffered a brake failure while descending the hill from Ikare-Akoko end of the road.
