Kolkata: The very severe cyclonic storm Yaas, with wind speed racing from 120-140 kmph, battered the country’s eastern coast of West Bengal and Orissa on Wednesday, inflicting large scale damages to human habitats and farmlands.
The storm surge triggered by the cyclone, which coincided with the perigean spring tide because of Wednesdayâs full moon, caused an extraordinary rise in the water level in several rivers.
