Local community group, Outta Skool, is celebrating after being awarded almost £320,000 in National Lottery funding to support its work with adults and children in helping reduce health inequalities.
The group, based on Highfield Street in Oldham, will use the cash to deliver its award-winning Let’s Get Active programme for the next five years.
The 12-week lifestyle changing programme supports local GPs, organisations and parents to refer adults and children with long term health conditions such as Type 2 Diabetes, obesity, poor mental health etc.

Udhampur Weightlifting meet held

UDHAMPUR, Feb 21: District Udhampur Weightlifting Association today organised District championship under the aegis of Jammu and Kashmir Weightlifting Association at Fitness Plant Gym, here today.
In the prize distribution of this day-long event, Councillor Udhampur Municipal Committee, Preeti Khajuria was chief guest, who presented medals among winners and gave away certificates to the participants.
Swarn Singh was the guest of honour while Shaikh Tanveer (president district Kabaddi Association) was the special guest of the event.
Ashish Kumar and Achutam won top two positions respectively in 61 kg category, whereas in 67 kg, 1st and 2nd positions were bagged by Kanwar and Abay Singh respectively and 73 kg, Rahul Singh bagged first position, besides in 89 kg, Krishna Khajuria stood first, whereas in 96 kg, Jatin Mehra claimed first spot and in 102 kg, Tarun Singh secured 1st position.
