MONTREAL Raymond Savard, the longtime public servant who served as Verdun s mayor for two terms, has passed away at age 94. According to a statement issued by the borough, Savard passed away on the evening of July 19. Savard began his long career in politics in 1973, when he was elected a a city councillor in Verdun. He held that job until 1985. At the time, councillors were permitted to hold two separate elected positions simultaneously, allowing Savard to hold onto that job while also becoming the Member of Parliament for Verdun-St-Paul in 1977. After his defeat in the 1984 federal election, Savard ran for mayor of Verdun. He won that election and served two terms, leaving office in 1993.

From Saturday at 8 p.m. to Sunday at 6 a.m., the Pierre-Dupuy Ave. exit will be closed from Highway 20 East.
Highway 13
From Saturday at 8 p.m. to Sunday at 10 a.m., Highway 13 South will be closed between Exit 6 toward Quebec/Ottawa/Gatineau and the Highway 520 West entrance. There will be default closures of the Highway 40 exit toward Highway 13 South.
Highway 15
From Friday at 10 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m., the de Salaberry St. entrance to Highway 15 North will be closed.
Highway 20
From Friday at 9:30 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m., Exit 92 will be closed in Boucherville. The Ampère St. entrance to Highway 20 will also be closed.
MONTREAL Surprise! Major road closures are happening this weekend, namely on the Bonaventure Highway (A-10), Highway 13 (Chomedey), Félix-Leclerc Highway (A-40), Metropolitan Expressway (A-40), and Highway 520 (Côte-de-Liesse). For a happier time on the road, drivers are advised to avoid these areas. BONAVENTURE HIGHWAY (A-10) Between Chemin des Moulins and Wellington St. in both directions. From Saturday at 8 a.m. to Monday at 5 p.m.: Partial closure (one lane available) in each direction between Chemin des Moulins and Wellington St. From Saturday at 5 a.m. to Monday at 5 a.m.: Complete closure eastbound between the Gaétan-Laberge Blvd exit (4) and Nuns’ Island.
Much like last weekend, there will be major road closures on highways and interchanges throughout Montreal, notable at the Turcot and Saint-Pierre interchanges, Highways 13, 20 and 40, as well as on the Honore-Mercier and Samuel-De Champlain bridges.
