Tyson takes on Mobile Food Pantry, funds Food Bank of Iowa

Tyson Foods Inc. has granted $54,250 to the Food Bank of Iowa in order to support hunger relief in the Perry area, the company announced Thursday. The Tyson Fresh Meats plant in Perry will also begin coordinating the mobile food pantry events every other month at the Dallas County Hospital. “We’re very grateful for Tyson’s continued support and help in providing food to our local Perry community,” said Michelle Book, president and CEO of the Food Bank of Iowa. “This donation will help our organization work toward our vision of a hunger-free Iowa.”

Free Summer Meals Available to Children in Dighton

Kansas Food Bank Dighton, KS – The Kansas Food Bank and the Lane County Courthouse will once again partner to provide summer meals for children in Dighton as part of the USDA Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be distributed as a “Grab & Go” on Monday May 24, 2021; Tuesday, June 1, 2021; Mondays June 7 – 28, 2021; Tuesday, July 6, 2021; and Mondays July 12- August 11, 2021. Distribution is from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Lane County Courthouse, 144 S. Lane. Each child will receive a prepackaged distribution of meals for the week. Child must be present to receive a meal bundle. Meals will be provided to all children without charge, and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service.

WICHITA, Kan. – May 5, 2021 – Tyson Foods has awarded an almost $92,000 grant to the Kansas Food Bank to fund mobile pantry distributions in Emporia and Garden City, Kansas. “We are very thankful to Tyson Foods for funding these mobile distributions,” said Brian Walker, president and CEO of Kansas Food Bank.  “The COVID-19 pandemic has caused an increased demand for food assistance across our state.  Tyson is helping to put missing meals on the tables of our neighbors in need with this grant.” The mobile food pantry will be deployed monthly starting in May to each respective community.  The grant period lasts for 12 months.  Distributions will be held the second week of the month.

Help Hays Taco Bell, Kansas Food Bank fight child hunger Kansas Food Bank press release Taco Bell is teaming up with the Kansas Food Bank’s Food 4 Kids Program to help chronically hungry children. Every Friday during the school year, the Kansas Food Bank provides backpacks of food for children who don’t get enough to eat at home on the weekends. From March 18th through March 31st, participating Taco Bell restaurants across Kansas, including the one in Hays (located at 1730 Vine Street), will ask customers to help support the Food 4 Kids program by rounding up their purchase. And when you round up, you ll get a free taco on your next visit!
