Officials say it was shortly after 5 p.m. when 39-year-old Kenneth Henson of Denham Springs was struck and killed by an eastbound locomotive, east of Summer Street. Train personnel told police they saw Henson walking Westbound on the North rail, as if on a tightrope, with his head down and possibly wearing earbuds prior to being struck; he never responded to horn blasts from the train.

WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (WAOW) - The Wisconsin Rapids Police Department and Canadian National Railroad Police are investigating an fatal incident on Monday. According to a press release from WRPD, they were called to the scene of the incident at the railroad crossing on Chase Street and Riverview Expressway around 4 pm Monday. The incident was described as train-versus-pedestrian, wherein the pedestrian had walked into a train. It is not clear if the incident was purposeful or on accident. The victim, only identified right now as a man, was declared dead at the scene. WRPD says, though the incident happened in Wisconsin Rapids, the investigation is being headed by Canadian National Railroad Police because it happened on the tracks.

Fatal Pedestrian Train Incident in Wisconsin Rapids

WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) — One person is dead after an incident involving a train on Monday afternoon. According to a press release from Wisconsin Rapids Police Department, officers were dispatched to Chase St. at Riverview Expressway at 4 p.m. on April 12th. The officers were dispatched for reports of an incident where a pedestrian had walked into a train. Upon investigation at the scene, Wisconsin Rapids Police Officers found a man who was deceased. They were also helped at the scene by Wisconsin Rapids EMS, the Wood County Coroner’s Office, and Candian National Railway. An investigation into the incident is being conducted by the Canadian National Railroad Police who have jurisdiction over the incident. No further information is being released at this time.
