After Woman's Death, Report Raises Alarm Over 'Patient Dumping' From Psychiatric Hospitals

"The tragedy of CaSonya King’s unnecessary death appears attributable to an all-too-common practice called patient dumping," reads a new report from the Disability Law Center. "Patient dumping occurs when a hospital denies emergency medical care or inappropriately discharges a current patient, either upon learning that the individual is unable to pay for treatment, or for another reason."

The Valley Industry Association is inviting residents to join their Fourth annual State of the State program, with state senator Scott Wilk and assemblywoman Suzette Valladares. This year’s program will be moderated by Ed Masterson of SOS Entertainment and VIA’s vice chair of workforce development. The Program will take place Jun 25 at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Valencia and is expected to go from 11:30 am to 1 pm. Questions for either guest maybe submitted in advance to kathy@via.org. Valley Industry Association, Mission Valley Bank, Proposes Solution To Santa Clarita Valley Small Business Debt Valley Industry Association (VIA) has partnered with Mission Valley Bank and the Santa Clarita Non-Profit Leaders Network to form a proposal that has been sent to Congressman Mike Garcia (R-Santa Clarita) that would provide funds to ease debt for eligible businesses in return for service to better the community. VIA identified a need in the community, and were inspired to begin working on a solution. In partnership with Mission Valley Bank and the Santa Clarita Non-Profit Leaders Network, VIA drafted a proposal that was sent to the office of Garcia entitled the SCV Helping Hand COVID Relief Initiative.

We enjoyed a catered lunch in small ‘COVID-friendly’ groups at well-spaced tables. We look forward to another successful year in 2021 when we can return to a more festive celebration and can all be together.”
