Darren John Chalmers, 53, had shared a meal with his neighbour Dianne Barrett, 60, at her Medina home in May 2019 when he invited her to his house.
Details of how Dianne Barrett was killed by a neighbour have been made public for the first time, almost two years after the 59-year-old vanished.
Darren Chalmers, 53, was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of the former music teacher yesterday. I m happy. It might sound funny, but I m happy for my sister Dianne that she got justice, the victim s sister Kathy Phelan said after sentencing.

A West Australian man who choked his neighbour to death after she showed him ânothing but kindnessâ will spend a minimum 20 years of a life sentence in jail after WA Supreme Court Justice Stephen Hall found the killing to be among the most serious of its kind.
Darren Chalmers, 53, pleaded guilty to murdering 60-year-old retired music teacher Dianne Barrett in his lounge room on May 12, 2019, after sharing a meal at her house two doors along Ridley Way, Medina, before she accompanied him home for a cup of tea.
