Kannur (Kerala) [India], May 23 (ANI): For Premachandran, a 51-year-old autorickshaw driver from Vellur near Payyannur it all began when he transported a pregnant woman, a gulf returnee with COVID-19 symptoms to hospital. Since then he has ferried in his auto close to 500 people, having symptoms to hospitals for getting timely treatment. After I offered the ride to gulf returnee with COVID-19 symptoms many others started to call me. Asha workers and those from local authorities gave me trips of those who need to go to hospitals particularly at the time of lockdown. Many had COVID-19 symptoms and others were reluctant to take them, Premachandran told ANI.

Cyclone Tauktae near Kochi is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm by this morning, informed the Indian navy on Friday.
In a tweet by the Spokesperson of the Indian Navy, it informed, #CycloneTauktae-Update 1-Deep depression 240 Nm NW off Kochi on 14th evening very likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm Tauktae by 15th morning.

The Arabian Sea has spun up cyclone ‘Tauktae’ (pronounced as Tau’Te) forming over Lakshadweep area and adjoining South-East and East-Central Arabian Sea in the small hours of today (Saturday), much earlier than initially predicted, is forecast to intensify as a severe cyclone by tomorrow (Sunday) morning.
‘Tauktae’ was located over East-Central and adjoining South-East Arabian Sea and Lakshadweep area past 120 km North-North-West of Amini Divi; 300 km West-North-West of Kannur (Kerala); and 990 km away to the South-South-East of Veraval (Gujarat) where it is expected to reach by Tuesday morning.

The Deep Depression over Lakshadweep area and adjoining southeast & eastcentral Arabian Sea moved north-northeastwards with a speed of 11 kmph during past 6 hours, and lay centred at 1730 hours IST of today, the 14th May, 2021 over Lakshadweep area and adjoining southeast & eastcentral Arabian Sea near latitude 11.6°N and longitude 72.6°E, about 55 km north-northwest of Amini Divi, 290 km west-southwest of Kannur (Kerala), 1060 km south-southeast of Veraval (Gujarat).
It is very likely to intensify into a Cyclonic Storm during next 12 hours and is very likely to intensify further during the subsequent 24 hours. It is very likely to move northnorthwestwards and reach near Gujarat coast by 18th May morning.
