CONCORD – This year Law Enforcement Day was somber and commemorative for officers in Cabarrus County. This year, Concord Police Officer Jason Shuping, who was killed on December 16, 2020, had his name added to the Law Enforcement Memorial along with the six other law enforcement officer killed in the line of duty in Cabarrus County. Before the memorial ceremony revealing Shuping’s name, two law enforcement officers were recognized for the Robert J. Eury Award, the most prestigious law enforcement award in the community given to an officer that demonstrates true commitment to law enforcement and service to the community. While Concord Police Deputy Chief Jimmy Hughes received the award in 2020, but due to the pandemic, he was recognized in a small private gathering. Now that outdoor gathering sizes have increased, he was publically recognized this year.

(WBTV) - A single-wide mobile home was gutted by fire in Kannapolis on Tuesday. The fire was reported at 10:00 am at the home on First Street, just off Little Texas Road. The home was gutted by fire, but several campers and structures on the same property were saved by firefighters. No injuries were reported, but the owner of the mobile home told WBTV that he and 7 others were displaced from the property as a result of the fire.

The Kannapolis Police Department responded around 1 p.m. to Lane Street Express. Upon arrival, officers located 24-year-old Lena Morgan, of Concord, with a gunshot wound. Police say she was pronounced dead at the scene. After an investigation, investigators learned that the incident was a drive-by shooting that happened in the parking lot of the store. According to police, they were able to get a lead and identify the suspect in the homicide case as Nolan Kiel Graves.

WCCB Charlotte s CW February 22, 2021 14-year-old Trenity Boland left home four weeks ago and could be somewhere in Charlotte. “We’re terribly afraid,” says Trenity’s adoptive mother Kay Boland, “We’re afraid that she was lured off of the internet, Instagram.” Trenity continues to post on her TikTok account, but her adoptive parents say the videos show her dressed inappropriately, and they fear she could be doing it against her will. “Our suspicion is, yes, most of the pictures that we do see, she’s not very happy,” Boland says. Police believe Trenity may have recently been in the SouthPark area of Charlotte.
