Barrow Council apologises after mowing down multiple tree saplings in Dalton

A ROW of saplings on a green area were accidentally mowed down by council contractors. The trees had been planted closer to the hedge line near Coronation Drive in Dalton to avoid damage. But it is believed protective plastic and growing stake had been removed leading to contractors mowing the whole area. A town community group said it was comical . The council has now promised it will be sorted as a ‘matter of priority’. A council officer told Dalton Community Action Group a grounds maintenance contract manager had spoken to Continental Landscapes and the Woodland Trust and admitted the error.

Some 30 1.55m tall Imp sculptures will the placed across the city from Newport Arch to St Marks, Brayford Waterfront to Monks Road from July 3 to September 8, 2021. The sculpture is based on the WH Goss pottery IMP model that was produced by the Falcon Stoke-on-Trent pottery in the late 1800s / early 1900s.

The Christmas tree collection event was a success for Isabel Hospice. - Credit: Isabel Hospice Welwyn Hatfield residents were able to book Isabel Hospice to come and collect their Christmas trees while making a charitable donation to the hospice at the same time. The task of collecting over 850 trees was undertaken by a community partnership of businesses donating their time, manpower, vehicles and equipment including Evoke Tree Services, Continental Landscapes, Mark Walker Grounds Maintenance Limited, Mears, Brian Robson Coachworks, Cromer Hyde Farm, and Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council.

St Barnabas Hospice launches Lincolnshire Christmas Tree-cycle scheme for January  | Updated: 10:09, 10 December 2020 Staff and supporters of St Barnabas Hospice will be recycling Christmas trees this January. The St Barnabas Hospice Tree-cycle has launched once again, which will see staff and supporters of the Hospice driving across Lincolnshire to collect and recycle Christmas trees. St Barnabas will be collecting trees from Saturday January 9 and will accept tree registrations until Monday January 4, or until they reach capacity. Louise Cotton, Fundraising Officer and Treecycle Co-ordinator with last year s trees being recycled. (43494975) They are asking members of the public to leave their trees in a clearly visible and accessible location on the kerbside if possible. Due to COVID restrictions volunteers are unable to enter a property (e.g. house, garden, shed).
