Police in the county have remained coy on circumstances that led to the death of Kolleh, but the deceased’s family say they suspect a foul play. Fasu Kollie, relative of the deceased, said they found out by text message Sunday from their neighbor that their brother had died in police custody.
GANTA, Nimba County – A 40-year-old man has died while in the custody of the Ganta Police Detachment barely three days after his arrest.
The deceased, Joe Kolleh who was a resident of Gbloryee community in Ganta, was being held by police for allegedly owing his friend, Moses Yeanay, LD$ 6,000, police told FrontPage Africa.

GANTA, Feb. 4 – Police in Ganta, Nimba County have arrested, charged and sent to court a 40-year old Filipino for allegedly attempting to sodomize a 22-year old Liberian motorcyclist.
Michael Maraha was arrested on Tuesday, February 2, and taken to the Ganta Police depot following a tussle between him and 22 year old Spencer Zuo who complained that Michael attempted sodomizing him in his hotel room.
Making the disclosure to newsmen on Tuesday, LNP Ganta Detail Deputy Commander, EO Dellin Fayiah, said the accused during police preliminary investigation admitted committing the act and said, it is his way of life.

Monrovia – One of Liberia’s top female politicians, Edith Gongloe-Weh says unfavorable events against women candidates in Gbarpolu and Nimba Counties in the just ended special senatorial elections are calculated attempts to silence women in Liberian politics.
Madam Gongloe-Weh, similar to Madam Botoe Kanneh of Gbarpolu who was attacked by the Country Devil and later rescued by a group of women, was the lone female candidate among seven contestants vying for one of Nimba County’s senatorial seats on the ticket of the opposition Collaborating Political Parties (CPP).
For Christmas Holiday
Officers of the Liberia National Police, Ganta Detail on Friday, December 25, 2020, held what was described as its first ‘candy’ program for kids, who normally trek the streets on holidays in search of a recreation center for entertainment.
According to Sgt. Jenkins N. Mangou, the head of the Women and Children Protection Unit, who is a coordinator of the Community Service Section (CSS), the program aims to keep kids from roaming the streets and also keep them from danger or harm during the holiday.
“We decided to have this program in order to keep our kids in one place so as to avoid them from getting trapped from the hands of criminals and also keep them away from danger,” Patrolman Jacob Wonpoe of the CSS said in an overview.
