Apr 8, 2021 Police Investigate Scam at the Traffic Department in San Pedro News Five has confirmed that a police investigation is currently underway at the traffic department in the island town of San Pedro. This follows reports that a number of residents were conned in a well-put together scam carried out by former and current members of the public department. It involves traffic stickers which were paid for and received, but are reportedly fake. News Five has been reliably informed that a raid of several residences on the island yielded evidence to suggest that the scam was ongoing for some time and that former traffic wardens and a technician within the department are involved. Today, a public notice was issued by the town council stating that the traffic department office on the island was closed for the day and will reopen on Friday. News Five attempted to get a comment from Mayor Wally Nunez today, but we were told that he was in a meeting with the Coastal Executive

(Submitted by Tamara Rose) comments Just over a year ago, the lives of students across the province were thrown into chaos when kindergarten to Grade 12 classes were cancelled indefinitely due to the global pandemic.  At the same time that many sports and extracurricular activities were put on hold, Calgary school divisions began contemplating online learning, and days of uncertainty followed. Since then a lot has changed for Calgary students, families and educators when it comes to learning   whether online or in-person. But, through it all, they ve largely figured it out and adapted. 

Seattle parents outraged as schools, teachers union delay reopening

Dan Springer reports on parents, students losing hope in liberal city SEATTLE – The first scheduled day of going to school in a year did not go as planned for Seattle parents and students. District officials planned to bring back kindergartners and first graders, but the Seattle Education Association refused. Nearby Northshore School District was the first in the nation to go all remote when the pandemic hit last year. Students are still all remote, and many parents are angry worrying about their children. They re lonely, they re isolated, they re depressed, their grades are down, said Karli Geller, who has two kids in Northshore Schools. She and her husband are also teachers.
