Collector H Krishnanunni inspected a COVID-19 isolation ward here on Thursday.
He visited the oxygen plant and checked the stock availability of basic drugs at the pharmacy in the Government Hospital.
According to doctors, close to 190 patients were admitted in the Theni Government Medical College Hospital while 106 patients were in other Government Hospitals in the district. Around 80 patients were in treatment at private hospitals and 629 persons with mild symptoms, but tested positive for COVID-19 virus were in different COVID care centres.
There were 4,178 people in home quarantine across the district.

Surveillance to be strengthened at check posts
Southern districts in the State on Sunday geared up to face the challenges that might arise due to imposition of complete lockdown from Monday.
District Collectors conducted review meetings with officials in which the broad guidelines of the government were discussed threadbare.
Tenkasi Collector G.S. Sameeran said more attention would be given to manning check posts. The surveillance on travelling public from other States and overseas would be tightened round the clock.
Officials, who attended the meeting, said Courtallam and other tourist spots would continue to be out of bounds for the people.

COVID Care Centres in various areas have been kept ready
Following a rise in the number of COVID-19 positive cases, Collectors in the southern districts conducted meetings with health department officials and a few among them made on-the-spot visits to markets to check for themselves the preparedness and adherence to the Standard Operating Procedures.
Sivaganga Collector P. Madhusudhan Reddy appealed to the residents to wear face masks whenever they stepped out of their dwellings. Presiding over a meeting in the presence of Superintendent of Police M. Rajarajan and other officials here on Friday, he said that the health department would intensify fever camps. Door-to-door checks too would be carried out from Saturday.
