Students in the Building Futures program are starting to see their hard work come to fruition.

After months of in-classroom learning and onsite building students gathered to raise and set the first wall of the duplex house they are constructing just north of Copperhaven School.
“It’s a unique opportunity to get to build a house. It’s not something that everyone gets to do every day. It’s all of us working together in a big team effort and it’s just a lot of fun. Getting the wall raised today was a huge accomplishment,” said Building Futures student Ben Hopkins.

AS WE edge ever closer to Christmas it has been great to see the many examples of generosity in the community.
Our Adopt a Family Appeal is down to the last four families, which is great considering we started off with 80 families only a few weeks ago, and the feedback from local charities is that the amount of support out there is as high as ever, despite what has been a challenging year.

AN IPSWICH house, believed to be about 100-years-old, will be transformed by school-based apprentices and students next year.
It will be the fourth project undertaken by Apprenticeships Queensland for its Building Futures Program, which is designed to equip young people with the skills and confidence for a future career in the construction industry. 8 Gibbon St in East Ipswich.
All four properties are located in Ipswich and the latest project is on Gibbon St in East Ipswich.
The last house given a new lease on life thanks to the program went on the market for $699,000 last month.
