Study reveals new insights into the effects of chemotherapy on tumor microenvironment

Novel immunotherapy approach may offer therapeutic advantages for melanoma

Novel immunotherapy approach may offer therapeutic advantages for melanoma In a new study led by Yale Cancer Center, researchers have advanced a tumor-targeting and cell penetrating antibody that can deliver payloads to stimulate an immune response to help treat melanoma. The study was presented today at the American Association of Cancer Research (AACR) virtual annual meeting. Most approaches rely on direct injection into tumors of ribonucleic acids (RNAs) or other molecules to boost the immune response, but this is not practical in the clinic, especially for patients with advanced cancer. In this study, we can deliver immune stimulatory RNA to tumors in vivo following systemic administration.

Oncogenic RAS mutations are responsible for regrowth of cancer cells following genotoxic therapies

Oncogenic RAS mutations are responsible for regrowth of cancer cells following genotoxic therapies In the fight against cancers, activating mutations in the RAS family of genes stand in the way of finding viable treatment options. Now, scientists at the University of Missouri and Yale University have discovered that one of these mutations oncogenic RAS or RASV12 is also responsible for the regrowth of cancer cells following genotoxic therapy treatment, or drugs that cause damage to a cancer cell s DNA in order to eliminate it from the body. Most of our knowledge of how cells respond to DNA damage is mainly derived from studies looking at the single cell level. Therefore, we don t know much about how tumor cells respond to DNA damage in the broader context of the tissue level, and what possible implications these responses might have on a tumor s relapse following genotoxic therapies.

Surgical technique may reduce positive margin rate in breast cancer patients with DCIS

Surgical technique may reduce positive margin rate in breast cancer patients with DCIS ANI | Updated: Apr 05, 2021 22:55 IST Washington [US], April 5 (ANI): According to a new study by researchers at Wake Forest School of Medicine, a non-invasive breast cancer called ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) accounts for approximately one of every four new breast cancer cases in the United States. If left untreated, DCIS has the potential to evolve into invasive cancer, so many patients choose to have breast-conserving surgery or mastectomy after a diagnosis. However, obtaining clear or negative margins no cancer cells in the outer edge of removed tissue is critical to mastectomy success as positive margins are associated with higher rates of recurrence.

Jay s Weekend In Five Pictures 4/2-4/4 | SUNNY 99 1 | Dana & Jay in the Morning

By Jay Rodriguez Anther solid weekend is in the books! Shortly after I got home on Friday, Julie and I drove to Midway Food Market in Katy. Lately, we ve been ordering lunch here twice a week. We both tried the Killer B s Burger and loved it. It has a patty, brisket and bacon in it. I also picked up some marinated fajitas to grill on Saturday night. Those ended up really good too. I ve never seen my kids eat so much. While we were out & about, we stopped by Ace Hardware. My wife needed some seeding trays for her plants. While we were shopping, we noticed a cat napping on some fertilizer. Don t worry, he s a regular. His name is Sparky and he just chills in the store. He s awesome and really friendly.
