Easton officials are considering the purchase of two 2010 fire pumper trucks to replace backup trucks that are from 1995 and 1998 and considered obsolete.
City council last week approved pursuing the Pierce fire engine purchases, at a total cost of $550,000, according to city Administrator Luis Campos.
The next step is for council to approve financing for the purchase from Command Fire Apparatus, based in Landisville, Pennsylvania, which offered the winning bid for the purchase, Campos said. Once the purchase gains final approval, the city should take delivery within 30 to 45 days, he said.
