The 35-year-old man was reported missing on Tuesday just after 6am. In a statement released on Wednesday, Mykonos station commander of the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) Mike Shaw said its crew was activated after reports came in of a boat that had capsized offshore north of Paternoster along the West Coast. “Our sea rescue craft, Spirit of East London II, was towed to Paternoster and launched to begin a search in the vicinity of Seal Island, approximately five nautical miles north of Paternoster, for a local 35-year-old fisherman who was reported to be missing at sea.

Courtmacsherry RNLI Voluntary Lifeboat Operations Manager, Brian O Dwyer said a lifeboat was launched within minutes. “They proceeded at full speed to the area where the casualty was and they arrived there within 15 minutes – there was a rough sea and the casualty was being blown out to sea,” said Mr O’Dwyer.

Share this article One woman and three children have been taken to safety by Coast Guard helicopter Rescue 116 after they were stranded in Dublin. The Marine Rescue Centre was notified at about 4.15pm that three people were stuck in a place known as The Ladies Stairs at Skerries. Units from the RNLI, the Coast Guard and the R116 Helicopter were deployed to the area to assist. Crews from the aircraft recovered the woman and three children at about 5.25pm. Rescue of 4 persons cut off by tide at Barnageeragh by CG Heli Rescue116 this evening.
