The first woman to dive in all 50 states will be one of two speakers in a pair of webinar programs hosted by NOAA’s Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary. The second speaker is an oceanic journalist and professional photographer and diver.
In celebration of Women’s History Month, organizers are bringing in two Women Making History who have made a big splash in male-dominated fields.

Alaska is renowned for its postcard pretty mountains, vast spaces and massive earthquakes.
But not many people know the highest tsunami wave ever accurately measured - at 524-metres - occurred in Alaska.
It happened 63 years ago during a tsunami - an unusual wave that is usually generated by either a large undersea earthquake; volcanic eruptions; landslides that fall into the sea or that occur underwater; and asteroids.
Evidence of the destruction caused by the Lituya Bay, Alaska tsunami can still be seen from space.

The project to build a new Portland Water Bureau filtration plant on Carpenter Lane in Boring is moving forward, with filtration pipeline drilling beginning today, March 1, as rural residents continue to voice opposition.
To recap: The Portland Water Bureau began planning its new filtration plant in 2017, after a mandate from the Oregon Health Authority required the bureau build a facility to treat for cryptosporidium by 2027. This mandate was to bring the bureau into compliance with the Environmental Protection Agency s Long Term 2 Enhanced Surface Water Treatment Rule.

2 region of the southwest Pacific Ocean is made up of continental crust. The region has elevated bathymetry relative to surrounding oceanic crust, diverse and silica-rich rocks, and relatively thick and low-velocity crustal structure. Its isolation from Australia and large area support its definition as a continent Zealandia. Zealandia was formerly part of Gondwana. Today it is 94% submerged, mainly as a result of widespread Late Cretaceous crustal thinning preceding supercontinent breakup and consequent isostatic balance. In Mangalore University’s second attempt to create two new postgraduate departments to teach Geography and Medical Physics, by carving them out from their parental Departments of Marine Geology and Physics, respectively, its academic council in its meeting on Thursday approved two separate revised statutes to establish the departments.
