After more than 25 years in the business, Karen Smith has finally branched out on her own to open Salon on Savannah in Lewes.
The Sam Villa-trained stylist has put together a talented team, offering a variety of services in a newly renovated space off Savannah Road just east of Wescoats Corner.
“I started in Wilmington when I was 17 years old, so I’ve been in this business my entire life,” she said. “This is my love. This is what I was meant to do.”
Smith, who’s originally from the New Jersey/New York area, has worked at Bad Hair Day in Rehoboth Beach and, more recently, at Village Salon and Spa in the Villages of Five Points. She’s a master barber and master colorist, specializing in blondes, balayaging and fantasy shades. She also offers Hairdreams hair extensions, which utilizes a laser to add a full head of hair extensions in just 45 minutes. She attended a three-day course in New York City to learn all about Hairdreams

Thanks to Shauna McVey, spokesperson for the Delaware Division of Parks, for tracking down this information and making my job easier.
“We have the following projects that were recently or will be completed for the summer season,” wrote Shauna in an email.
