Missing man found deceased in Charlie Lakes area

Credit Marquette County Sheriff s Office The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office says Nicholas Suardini, 31, was found deceased in the woods Wednesday around 2:35 p.m. Suardini was last seen May 13 walking on North Shore Road near Middle Road in the Charlie Lakes area. His body was found northeast of that location. It was taken to UPHS-Marquette, where an autopsy will be conducted by the Marquette County Medical Examiner. The investigation into Suardini’s death is ongoing pending autopsy results. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Search and Rescue volunteers, Forsyth Township EMS, and Fire Department personnel. Fugitive wanted in Marquette County

Dennis Swenor Credit Marquette County Sheriff s Office Dennis Lee Swenor, 35, is wanted for failing to report to jail on a charge of possession of a controlled substance and felony absconding/forfeiting bond. Swenor was sentenced to 18 months to 8 years in prison and was ordered by a judge to report to jail on November 20, 2020. He failed to report and has since absconded/forfeited his bond. Swenor is described as 5’10” and 165 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes. Anyone with information on Swenor’s present location is asked to call 911 or Central Dispatch at 906-475-9912. Anyone with information on Swenor’s possible location is asked to call the Sheriff’s Department tip line at 906-225-8441.

Marquette County Sheriff s Office seeking fugitive who cut off tether

Darrell Patterson Credit Marquette County Sheriff s Office Darrell Patterson, 23, was released from jail with a GPS tether on January 20. He cut off the tether on February 4 and fled supervision. Patterson is wanted out of Marquette County Circuit Court on four counts of absconding/forfeiting bond and one count of tampering with an electronic monitoring device. He’s described as 6’2” and 160 lbs. with blond hair and blue eyes. Anyone with knowledge of Patterson’s whereabouts is asked to call 911, Central Dispatch at 906-475-9912 or the Sheriff’s Office tip line at 906-225-8441. Tags: 

Donation enables MCSO to buy a drone

Michael Neiger (l) presenting a check to Sheriff Greg Zyburt Credit Marquette County Sheriff s Office The donation came from Michael Neiger, president of Michigan Backcountry Search and Rescue. The drone will help Marquette County Search and Rescue during fire, flooding, search and rescue, and recovery. It will be named ART in honor of Michael’s father Art Neiger, a 40-year veteran of Marquette’s Coast Guard Auxiliary. Art was a Boy Scout leader and a professor and advisor at Northern Michigan University. He also helped to set up NMU’s police academy. ART also happens to be an acronym for Aerial Response Team.
