Court grants divorce to woman abandoned for 8 years
The presiding Judges held that the court had no choice but to dissolve the union.

A Jos Central Area Court, sitting in Kasuwan Nama, Jos on Thursday, granted a woman, Simaiga Bulus, divorce, on grounds that her husband of 22 years, Biko, abandoned her for eight years.
Delivering judgment, the presiding Judges, Ghazali Adam and Hyacenth Dolnanan held that the court had no choice but to dissolve the union.
“Both parties are no longer husband and wife, they are free to go their separate ways,” they held.
In her petition, Ms Bulus said: “My husband left travelled to Lamzak in Adamawa, to visit his kith and kin eight years ago; to visit his people, and has not returned since then.

A Central Area Court, sitting in Kasuwan Nama, in Jos on Tuesday, dissolved the union between Maryam Usman and Rabiu over the latter’s alleged deceit.
Delivering judgment, a panel of judges, presided by Ghazali Adam and Hyacenth Dolnanan, granted the divorce to the petitioner, Usman.
They held that Rabiu lied to her when he promised to provide for her and her children before marriage.
Earlier, Usman in her petition said:” Rabiu made empty promises to me. He lied that he would provide food and shelter for me and my children.
On Monday, an Area Court sitting in Kasuwan Nama sentenced a cobbler, Emmanuel Ike, to 18 months’ imprisonment for stealing a cell phone worth N350,000.
Court jails 15-year-old boy for stealing dogs

A Central Area Court sitting in Kasuwan Nama in Jos on Friday, sentenced a 15-year-old student, Bilal Ibrahim, to six months in prison for stealing two dogs.
A panel of two magistrates, Ghazali Adam and Hyacinth Dolnaan, who sentenced the teenager after he pleaded guilty to the offence, gave him an option to pay a fine of N20,000 or spend three months in prison.
The magistrates also ordered the convict to pay N50,000 in damages and in default to spend another three months in prison.
Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Ibrahim Gokwat told the court that the case was reported at the Angwan Rogo Police Station on January 21, by Hamisu Idris of Angwan Rogo Jos, the complainant.
