NEW DELHI: In the wake of the increasing number of Covid-19 cases in the sadhu community at Maha Kumbh and top seers dying of Covid-19 complications , akhadas have started exiting the grand pilgrimage that has so far hosted lakhs of people.
The Kumbh mela will end on April 30 officially and the next royal bath is on April 27. The Akhada Parishad, the apex body of all 13 akhadas, is planning to take part in the next royal bath but only a few saints will go for the dip.

Taking to its official Twitter handle, the UttarakhandPolice said, As planned, the police force in Kumbh Mela will be reduced by half as Baisakhi festival (peak day) has successfully concluded.
Earlier, Kumbh Mela Inspector General (IG) Sanjay Gunjya on Wednesday informed that 13 akharas took a holy dip at river Ganga on the occasion of Baisakhi Shahi Snan during Kumbh.

Bengaluru: Karnataka government on Thursday mandated an immediate RT-PCR test for those returning from the ongoing Kumbh Mela in Haridwar. Persons returning to Karnataka after taking part in the Kumbh Mela at Haridwar should get their RT-PCR test done immediately on return, said Health and Family Services Commissioner, Karnataka.
Around 14 lakh devotees took holy dip in the River Ganga at the Haridwar Mahakumbh on Wednesday on the occasion of Baisakhi Shahi Snan, which is the third royal bath in this Kumbh.
COVID-19: Karnataka makes RT-PCR test mandatory for people returning from Kumbh Mela
The first bath was held on March 11 on the occasion of Mahashivratri, while the second took place on April 12 and the third ended on April 14.
