Suzanne Whealan
Suzanne Whealan, age 57, passed away peacefully at home on March 4
th following a long battle with cancer. Suzanne was born in Palo Alto and raised in Los Altos. She graduated from St. Nicholas Catholic School, St. Francis High School and earned a Certificate of Achievement in Child Development from De Anza College. Suzanne cared for hundreds of children in her long career in childcare, and she loved her work. She kept in touch with many of the families for years, following the babies she had cared for into adulthood. In recent years, Suzanne spent many hours as a volunteer in the American Cancer Society’s Discovery Shop in Los Altos, and was honored to be the Outstanding Volunteer in 2018. She enjoyed the comradery of the other volunteers and workers at the shop, and the social opportunities with customers. Her homemade cookies were a staple at the counter for years and appreciated by all. Suzanne was a doting and devoted aunt to her niece and seven nephews,

Unsung heroes to be recognised for 2020 contribution Sutton Community Awards is set to take place virtually this week. The awards will celebrate heroes in the community, that have made an exceptional contribution to making the borough a better place to live, work and raise a family. For the second year running, the awards is being delivered in partnership between Community Action Sutton, Sutton Housing Partnership, Volunteer Centre Sutton, and Sutton Council. The judging panel includes representatives from across the community including local business, organisations, charities and residents associations.
