Mansfield Police Department short staffed

View Comments MANSFIELD - Seven members of the Mansfield Police Department will retire on or before June 2, requiring police Chief Keith Porch to put some personnel back on patrol temporarily. And sick leave, maternity leave and administrative leave on the force also has caused the chief to pull some officers back to patrol duties.  Three officers have retired since Jan. 1 - officers Rich Dittrich and Jeff McKinley and Capt. Doug Noblet. Officers Ron Barnes, Orlando Chatman and Andy Boor and assistant Chief Joe Petrycki will retire on or before June 2. The total number of officers on patrol is 39 with 12 supervisors, Porch said.

Apr 14, 2021 Richland County Sheriff’s Office Maintains National Law Enforcement Accreditation by CALEAÒ The Richland County Sheriff’s Office was awarded national accreditation on March 27, 2021 by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEAÒ) in the Law Enforcement program. The agency was first accredited in 2017. Following a multi-year self-assessment phase and a meticulous site-based assessment of community engagement, policy, procedures, equipment and facilities by CALEA assessors, Sheriff J. Steve Sheldon, Major Joe Masi and Accreditation Manager Mr. Richard Schuller attended the CALEA conference via teleconference. Each agency being reviewed, goes before CALEA’s 21-member Board of Commissioners where the commission reviews all findings and determines the agencies’ accreditation status.
