MANSFIELD - Seven members of the Mansfield Police Department will retire on or before June 2, requiring police Chief Keith Porch to put some personnel back on patrol temporarily.
And sick leave, maternity leave and administrative leave on the force also has caused the chief to pull some officers back to patrol duties.
Three officers have retired since Jan. 1 - officers Rich Dittrich and Jeff McKinley and Capt. Doug Noblet. Officers Ron Barnes, Orlando Chatman and Andy Boor and assistant Chief Joe Petrycki will retire on or before June 2.
The total number of officers on patrol is 39 with 12 supervisors, Porch said.
