WHIZ News MCCF Talks Scholarships ZANESVILLE, Ohio-The Muskingum County Community Foundation is looking to help students pay for college through its massive array of scholarships.  The foundation believes that scholarships are the most effective way to help pay for college expenses. They have applications suited for every student.  “We have over fifty scholarships that are housed here at the Foundation. We have ones that are for just about everyone, so we have scholarships for athletes, we have scholarships for students who don’t have a perfect GPA, we have scholarships for students who do have really good GPAs, we have scholarships for students who are going to specific colleges, majoring in specific things, so there really is a scholarship for everybody out there,” Educational Services Director Katie McCarty said from her offices.

MCCF Giving Away Textbook Scholarship

WHIZ News MCCF Giving Away Textbook Scholarship MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio-The Muskingum County Community Foundation is giving away its 14th annual Oliver Flanagan award.  The award is a $250 scholarship given to a graduate from any Muskingum County high school. It will cover textbooks for a semester of classes.  “It is a scholarship that is awarded to college students. You have to be at least a sophomore in college, or higher. It is a textbook scholarship, it’s basically a reimbursement scholarship. You have to prove that you did purchase textbooks for a semester or a school year in order to receive the award.”, MCCF advisor Christy Rahrig told WHIZ.

WHIZ News MCCF Holding Virtual Groundhog Day ZANESVILLE, Ohio-The Muskingum County Community Foundation is holding a virtual Groundhog Day celebration this year.  The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has made in person events impossible to hold responsibly. Chief Executive Officer Brian Wagner tells us how it’ll be different this year.  “We thought this would be a great way to get the community together, celebrate Groundhogs Day, and have a little bit of fun. We of course are gonna be raising money for the Spring Grant competition that we’ll be having, as we normally do. The non-profits in the area are still being affected by COVID, we need to do our best to assist them as best we can and we’re gonna continue to do that through our Spring Grant competition.”, Wagner told WHIZ.
