(NEWTON/OLNEY) In area meetings coming up on this Tuesday night : the Newton City Council will meet this evening at 6:00 at the Newton City Hall the IECC Board of Trustees will meet tonight at 7:00 at Olney Central College in Olney the Ridgway Chapter of the Illinois Audubon Society will meet tonight at the First Presbyterian Church in Olney, beginning at 7:00. Paul Barding, of Casey, a retired environmental affairs specialist and a veteran traveler and photographer, will present a program about the wildlife and ecology of Northern Alaska. The meeting is open to the public and those attending are asked to wear a face mask.

(CHICAGO) Ducks Unlimited (DU) recently announced that it, along with numerous partners, has protected, enhanced, and restored 392 acres of wetland and grassland habitat on seven Illinois project sites last year in 2020, greatly improving water quality and wildlife habitat. Among the highlighted projects were about 60 acres of private land in east-central Illinois, a 30 acre track along the Cashe River in southern Illinois’ Johnson County, and over 100 acres in a three year project in Kane County’s Burlington Prairie Forest Preserve.
