The police in Oyo State have declared that the command recovered an AK-47 rifle and other weapons from a suspected gunrunner terrorising some residents of Oyo and Ogun states.
This was disclosed by the Public Relations Officer of Oyo State police command, Adewale Osifeso, on Monday in a statement made available to newsmen.
Osifeso said that the operatives attached to the Command s Monitoring Unit found the gunrunner while on their regular stop and search duty.
Ex-PDP secretary regains freedom after payment of ransom to kidnappers

Ex-PDP secretary of Auyo Local Government in Jigawa State, Adamu Digitawa has regained his freedom after the payment of ransom.
A source close to the victim confirmed that he was released after paying the ransom of One Million Naira.
DAILY POST had reported that unknown persons kidnapped the former secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party at Aguza village after he paid for the ransom of his sister who was kidnapped weeks back.
The source also stated that the Ex-PDP secretary was released yesterday after the relatives paid One Million Naira, but his sister who was earlier abducted is yet to be released.

They were reportedly abducted on a farm at Ofada, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area on Saturday.
The duo were said to have been kidnapped on Saturday afternoon when the male guest accompanied the woman to the farm.
The Ogun State police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the abduction.
According to Oyeyemi, the woman and her guest had visited the farm from Lagos State.
The police officer told newsmen that the command had begun tracking the kidnappers so as to rescue the victims from their abductors’ unhurt.
He said, “We have begun search for them. We are tracking and trailing them. We will get them.”

A farmer in Ayete in the Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State, Oluwafemi Oyedepo, has recounted his nasty experience in kidnappers’ den where he spent four days.
City Round learnt that Oyedepo and his two partners were travelling to a farm around Felele village last Friday when some gunmen ambushed their van in the Konko area, Ibarapa.
His partners were said to have escaped but Oyedepo was not lucky as the abductors caught up with him and took him into the forest.
Oyedepo told our correspondent that the kidnappers initially demanded N100m ransom but eventually collected N600,000, adding that they tortured him before he was released on Tuesday.The incident was said to have been reported at the Ayete Police Division.
