DEHRADUN: Uttrakhand Chief Secretary Om Prakash on Monday (April 12) issued fresh guidelines amid a surge in COVID-19 cases and instructed that only 200 people will be able to attend the wedding ceremony. Fresh instructions were issued as the second wave of coronavirus has hit the country.
On April 10, Om Prakash held a meeting with the officials of the state health department and district magistrates (DM) to discuss the COVID-19 situation at the Secretariat. He said since COVID-19 cases are increasing all over the country, the state will have to be proactive in preventing spread of the virus and instructed all the District Magistrates to be thoroughly prepared to cope up with the situation, according to ANI report.

DEHRADUN: After four days of intense political parleys, Uttarakhand chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat tendered his resignation to governor Baby Rani Maurya at Raj Bhavan in Dehradun on Tuesday afternoon. A BJP legislative party meeting has been called on Wednesday morning to decide the name of the new CM. An official notification issued later in the day by chief secretary Om Prakash said that the governor has accepted the resignation of the CM and his cabinet and they have been asked to look after the portfolios held by them till the time a new government is formed.

The Uttarakhand government has asked the devotees/pilgrims intending to attend Kumbh Mela in Hardwar, which started on Saturday and will continue till April 30, to take precautionary measures relating to COVID-19.
Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Om Prakash, in a letter addressed to Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, said devotees intending to attend the Kumbh Mela should follow the standard operation protocols for effectively managing COVID-19. He suggested series of actions that should be followed to ensure that transmission of the virus did not escalate and mortality/morbidity are minimise

Ahead of the Kumbh mela in Haridwar, the Uttarakhand government has issued standard operating procedures making it mandatory for devotees to produce a negative report of RT-PCR test conducted not earlier than 72 hours of arrival and warning of penal action against Covid-19 SOP violators.
Based on the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the SOP also makes it compulsory for devotees to bring a medical fitness certificate and an e-pass or e-permit issued to them after registering on the Kumbh Mela web portal, Chief Secretary Om Prakash said.
